About Yes Carnoustie
We are a friendly group of folk committed to securing majority support for Scottish independence in the next referendum. We welcome folk who share our commitment – from all political affiliations and none.
We also welcome those who are not yet committed to Scottish independence, those who are undecided and those who are just plain curious about the issues.
Our group covers the local council ward of Carnoustie and District, so includes Carnoustie, Barry, Easthaven, Muirdrum, Monikie and Newbigging.
Yes Carnoustie was established as a constituted voluntary organisation on 1st February 2018. Our first AGM was held on Thursday 26th August 2021. You can read our Constitution Constitution YES Carnoustie (post AGM 2021).
Under our Constitution, we can have a management committee of up to eight people, drawn from our membership.
The committee elected at the 2021 AGM is:
Rosemary Champion (Chair), Kate Hall (Secretary), Brian Ness (Treasurer), Laura Dunbar, Barry Simmons and Mel Coleman.
The Indy Pledge
Yes Carnoustie has signed the Indy Pledge and all members are expected to comply.
What we do
We don’t believe we will secure Scottish independence as keyboard warriors arguing with the trolls and Twitterati, but by ourselves discussing the issues with our friends and neighbours in a friendly and constructive way.
The committee is putting together a plan of action including street stands, Bridges for Indy, meetings and leafleting. See our Events page for details.
Get in touch with us now if you’d like to get involved.
We plan to recommence our regular monthly meetings very soon; please check our Events page here and our Facebook page for details. Some of these meetings will include speakers, quizzes and music, too.
